What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is a term for types of minerals made of microscopic fibres. Asbestos-containing-materials (ACM) are no longer available for purchase however many buildings still have them sprayed on ceilings and walls or contained in floor tiles and pipes from before the ban.

If these ACMs are intact, they pose little risk to the inhabitants. It is only when they are disturbed that the fibres can cause harm to people.
